1. Accepting these terms
By using DirectDrop, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you are not legally able to agree to online service terms where you live, use DirectDrop only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
2. What DirectDrop provides
DirectDrop provides a web interface and temporary signaling service intended to establish direct WebRTC file transfers between one sender and one recipient. DirectDrop does not provide cloud storage, permanent links, background transfer, recovery, or guaranteed availability.
3. Your responsibilities
- Share only files you have the legal right and authorization to share.
- Protect private links and send them only to intended recipients.
- Verify the recipient and the downloaded file where appropriate.
- Maintain your own original copy and backups.
- Use a lawful, secure device and network connection.
4. Prohibited use
You may not use DirectDrop to distribute illegal, infringing, abusive, deceptive, malicious, exploitative, or privacy-invasive material; spread malware; facilitate unauthorized access; evade sanctions or legal restrictions; overload or probe the service; automate room creation; interfere with other users; or misrepresent the service.
5. No content custody or moderation
Because file bytes travel directly between peers and are not uploaded to the application server, DirectDrop ordinarily cannot inspect, recover, remove, or provide copies of transferred content. This does not limit actions that may be taken against abusive connections, traffic, or users where technically and legally possible.
6. Availability and changes
The service may be limited, interrupted, changed, suspended, or discontinued for maintenance, security, capacity, legal, or operational reasons. Usage limits and technical requirements may change.
7. Third-party services
DirectDrop relies on third-party infrastructure including Cloudflare, Google STUN, Google AdSense, browsers, operating systems, internet providers, and certificate authorities. Their terms and policies may apply independently, and DirectDrop does not control their availability.
8. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that transfers will connect, complete, remain private after a link is shared, preserve filenames or metadata, or be free from interruption, loss, or security defects. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights, remedies, warranties, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Responsibility for loss
You are responsible for keeping original files and backups and for the links you distribute. To the extent permitted by applicable law, DirectDrop is not responsible for failed or delayed transfers, unauthorized link disclosure, service interruption, device or network costs, or loss caused by events outside its reasonable control. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
10. Enforcement
Access may be rate-limited, blocked, or terminated when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, providers, or legal rights. Security controls do not create an obligation to monitor transferred files.
11. Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated as the service or applicable requirements change. Continued use after an updated effective date means the updated Terms apply to later use of the service.
